First week of steady 100 degree temperatures here in the
Sacramento Valley. Time for a new newsletter, half the year gone already,
wow how time flies. This month we wanted to let you know about a case
repair Omega does.
The bearing bores in Honda cases have a tendency to wear
because of the side loads placed on them. That combined with the difference
in the heat expansion rate of the steel and aluminum in a transmission
eventually produces sloppy tolerances.
Restoring the case to better than original condition is
a much cheaper and environmentally friendly way to go. When the bearing
bore becomes oversized, the gear train loses the precision gear-train
tolerance that Honda designed in and things start to wear, break or
become noisy. We put a steel sleeve in place to restore the original
dimension. Same day service is available in most cases. (pun intended)
