This is the most often mistaken bell housing we deal with. When Ford switched from the A4LD designation to the 4R44E and 4R55E there was a period of time where your year and application data would tell you that you were working on the new 4R55E. The confusion came when you tried to order one of our line-bored bell housings and your starter would no long bolt up. The pocket would be too small. You can have the six bolt, 8 mm. pump bell housing and be working on either a 4R55E or A4LD. See the pictures at right for which part number to order when calling.
